Erin Remme
Minneapolis Metsquerade Founder
The Minneapolis Metsquerade was created in 2018 by the late Erin Remme.Erin was just 35 years old when she gained her angel wings the summer of 2020. She was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. She gifted so many with her positive outlook on life and infectious smile.
While she may have left this Earth, her legacy lives on through all of us. We promised her that we would continue her fight and work to raise money for MBC research until it was no longer a deadly diagnosis.
“Josh and I met when we were in High School. We married right after I graduated from St. Olaf College with a nursing degree. In 2008 we moved to a small Western suburb (Albertville) in MN and immediately fell in love with our neighborhood and our community. We got a puppy named Lily and a year later welcomed a sweet baby boy to our family named Carter. Reese came along 2.5 years later and then our little Harrison in 2015. Life was “perfect.” I was working my dream job as an OB nurse at Maple Grove Hospital. The month before Harrison turned one I noticed a lump while nursing him. There is no history in my family of breast cancer, so I chalked it up to breastfeeding. A month later, on September 1st of 2016 I was officially diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The diagnosis shook our little world.
We found out a week later that I in fact had Stage IV (in-curable) Breast Cancer and that it had spread to my bones. I will forever be on some type of treatment. The statistics for Stage IV Breast Cancer are scary, so we prefer to live each day of our lives to the fullest. Truly taking everything in and enjoying every second.
I am so honored to be hosting this black tie event (Minneapolis Metsquerade) where 100% of the proceeds will go to Metavivor, who in turn will give 100% to Stage IV Research. We can’t wait to help kick this awful disease to the corner.” -Erin
